Pittsburgh Community Gallery Project at David L. Lawrence Convention Center

“Children feel if they can do art, they can do anything.”
-Christine Bethea, Artist/Instructor at Hill House Association

There are powerful lessons to learn through the imagination and artistic expression of our youth.  Through their painting, poetry, photography, music, sculpture, video and voice, we are offered great insight into the issues and challenges that are important to children today, and how best to harness and nurture this creativity for collective good in the future.

The Pittsburgh Community Gallery Projection is made possible through generous support from The Grable Foundation, and pays tribute to our young people; the hard work and commitment of their creative mentors, and the remarkable youth arts programming offered throughout this region.

Highlighting artworks in all mediums from select community programs, the installation was designed by Clear Story Creative.  Programs represented include:

We thank all of the children and their mentors who contributed to the Community Gallery Light Projection at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.  They are an example of the wonderful youth art programs throughout Pittsburgh:

In addition, and as part of the Pittsburgh Community Gallery Projection and the Pittsburgh "Stories of Children: Allegheny County" will be on display inside of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in the East Lobby.

The exhibit was created by: Children's Museum of Pittsburgh; Child Watch; Teresa Foley and Randy Collins of Pittsburgh Filmmakers Youth Photography Workshops; Mark Perrott, youth portraits; Rob Long/Clear Story Creative, exhibit & design fabrication; and Jennifer McNulty/StudioLuxe Design, graphic layout.
