Pittsburgh Community Gallery Project at David L. Lawrence Convention Center

There are powerful lessons to learn through the imagination and artistic
expression of our youth. Through their painting, poetry, photography,
music, sculpture, video and voice, we are offered great insight into the
issues and challenges that are important to children today, and how best
to harness and nurture this creativity for collective good in the future.
The Pittsburgh Community Gallery Projection is made possible through
generous support from The Grable Foundation, and pays tribute to our young
people; the hard work and commitment of their creative mentors, and the
remarkable youth arts programming offered throughout this region.
Highlighting artworks in all mediums from select community programs, the
installation was designed by Clear Story Creative. Programs represented

We thank all of the children and their mentors who contributed to the
Community Gallery Light Projection at the David L. Lawrence Convention
Center. They are an example of the wonderful youth art programs
throughout Pittsburgh:
In addition, and as part of the Pittsburgh Community Gallery Projection
and the Pittsburgh "Stories of Children: Allegheny County" will be on
display inside of the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in the East
Lobby.
"Stories of Children: Allegheny County" explores the positive aspects and
challenges of childhood through the eyes of young photographers of
different ethnic and cultural backgrounds: Charlotte Smith, Jasmine
Walton, Jennifer Nguyen, Lawyer Johnson, and Shawn (Buddy) Wanner.
The exhibit was created by: Children's Museum of Pittsburgh; Child Watch;
Teresa Foley and Randy Collins of Pittsburgh Filmmakers Youth Photography
Workshops; Mark Perrott, youth portraits; Rob Long/Clear Story Creative,
exhibit & design fabrication; and Jennifer McNulty/StudioLuxe Design,
graphic layout. This project is supported by a grant from the Pennsylvania
Historical and Museum Commission.
